New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME)

IMU sensor, IR sensor, moisture sensor, ESP 32 C6, tracing paper, fabricSector ∅ explores how real-time ambient sounds and audience-generated noises can shape a tranquil, meditative sonic experience. We aim to evoke a quiet mental landscape—a shared state of inner stillness—through layered textures collected from the interaction between the audience, the wearable instrument, and the artists. We invite the audience to enter the auditory landscape of a distant, subconscious world—a place defined not by the familiar sounds of nature, but by the abstract resonances of the 'deep mind.' With our wearable wings, we invite the audience to break the boundary between observer and creator; by physically touching and interacting with these wearable instruments, the audience’s movements awaken the soundscape, allowing us to collectively navigate this mysterious, ethereal void.
